Slowly getting the hang of this beast. I know there's a lot of little tricks and switch combinations to learn however.

Got a few basic presets created (my plexi based faves... basically, Zepp, Iommi, Rhoads, Kill Em All...). While I wish there was a touch screen, the controls are pretty intuitive and I find it a good mix of physical controls (which QC lacks, being touch screen only) and interface. Way better than the Fractal UI, but I can't say that too loud 'round here. lol...

Even got some IR's loaded - had to do a quick search, but turns out to be easy peasy. At first the interface on HX Edit was a bit of a turnoff, since it doesn't have knobs like Fractal or QC, but honeslty got used to it quick. The lack of 'Skeuomorphism' is initially strange, but actually ends up feeling a bit more modern in a sense.

Question on the native cabs, is "Distance" on axis from the grill cloth, or is it radial from the center cap? Only goes does to 1.00".

Stupid to say this out loud, but even for a hack hobbyist like me, the Helix just feels professional and makes me feel (pretend) like I'm an musician, more so than other units.

Now... where the F is 3.8???!!! :pickle :sofa

I am not one to talk at all but what pushed this decision when you have the QC?

Again, I do the same so just curious 🤣

lol... I dunno... many reasons... I'm a psycho... I'm weak... I have no self control... etc. etc... LOL

Also got $120 off which isn't much but new one don't seem to get discounted unless they are demo or b-stock or used.

I'm friggin giddy as hell though... sorry for the enthusiasm...

Thanks to some discussion here on the dual path thing to free up CPU (I couldn't assign a poly capo for a snapshot on a simple preset)... BUT... I remembered that "trick" that was discussed... and BOOM... Poly Capo activated when I moved the amp/cabs/post fx to path 2...

So now I can have my early Black Sabbath tone in one Snapshot, and C# later Sabbath in another Snapshot... WooT!!! (I had this on my QC also, but didn't have the lane limitation - hence why I think the QC is still more powerful in terms of processing overall)...

Welcome to the party! Mic distance is how far away from the speaker it is.

@LCW and keep those boxes! I regret finally deciding to get rid of mine and had to leave it in the hands of UPS to pack and ship it for an inevitable repair :facepalm

Oh 100% - and I'm glad this one came with the external brown box for lack of a better term... Now have vessel for if/when I sell it, or send in for repair. Also was a sign this one was un-molested, un-returned.

So is the mic lateral/radial position basically edge of dust cap by default? Obviously not moveable.
You can move it AFAICR. I don't use the stock cabs often but it's a moveable parameter

  • Position—Sets the lateral location of the mic in relation to the speaker cone. Choose from Center ~ Cap Edge ~ Edge. Cap Edge may appear in a different location depending on the selected cab
  • Distance—Sets the distance of the mic from the speaker cone. Choose from 1.00" to 12.00" in 1/4" increments
  • Angle—Sets the angle of the mic. 0 degrees is pointing directly at the speaker, 45 degrees is pointing off-axis

I guess not all cabs have position. I haven't looked at all or even many of them yet, but the 4x12 Greenback 25 doesn't have 'Position'. Only 'Distance', and no 'Angle' either. Maybe "newer" developed cab models have these added parameters. I'll find out as I explore more.

Huh.. Now I'm gonna have to check when I get home!
